When using products with Retinol, should I use extra SPF protection?Updated a month ago

We always recommend using an SPF of 20 or higher to protect your skin when using retinol-based products. All of our SPFs are 30+ and double up as your daily moisturiser.

Wearing SPF in the morning is a must, especially when you’re using retinol, as it makes your skin more sensitive to the sun. Retinol accelerates cell turnover, which brings fresh, new skin to the surface—making it more vulnerable to UV damage.

We’d also suggest avoiding salicylic and glycolic products without SPF, as these can increase skin sensitivity too and need extra protection.

No matter if you're using retinol or not, daily SPF is essential for tackling signs of aging, scarring, pigmentation, enlarged pores, and uneven texture. UV exposure is the number one cause of premature skin damage, so protecting your skin from those rays is one of the best ways to keep it healthy and prevent further harm.
